Hi, I’m Desiree.
I’m a Registered Massage Therapist, infant massage instructor, and doula in Toronto.
From a young age, I’ve felt drawn to helping and supporting people, especially in times of stress. Although I couldn’t necessarily fix their problems, being a calm presence for them came naturally to me. Often, I observed that this alone helped them feel better, even if their situation hadn’t changed.
I also developed an interest in the human body, its health, and the way it moves. This led to studies in kinesiology and dance, and later, massage therapy.
As a massage therapist, I am able to be that calm presence for my clients, while using my skills to improve their health and well-being. My approach to treatment includes an awareness of the mind-body connection because, in a relaxed state, a person is more open to receiving massage therapy with largely beneficial outcomes. Empowerment and self care are also important in my practice, as I believe there is strength in knowing we can help ourselves, even when sometimes asking for help from others along the way.
I’ve treated a variety of clients and conditions, however, my passion is with helping families throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, as well as babies and children. I also provide chair massages to families in the NICU at Sunnybrook Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, through an awesome organization, Project Sunshine.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me practicing yoga or ki exercise, knitting (I know, right? My hands!), trying new recipes, tending to my houseplants, or wandering the aisles of the health food store. And then there’s laundry. So. Much. Laundry. I am a massage therapist, after all!
Ready to work with me? Book an appointment, or check out my services below. Looking forward to connecting with you!
