Pregnancy can be a wonderful time. You’re likely experiencing all kinds of emotions, as well as physical changes to your body. New growth each week means you are closer to meeting your baby – and that’s exciting! – but you may also be feeling some discomfort, such as nausea, fatigue, swollen feet, hip pain, and back pain. Rest and sleep can feel out of reach, because you can’t find a comfortable position, not to mention you’re constantly getting up to use the bathroom! Sound familiar?
These are common experiences of pregnancy, as your body changes to support your baby.
There’s a lot happening, but you don’t have to feel uncomfortable the entire time you are pregnant.
Massage therapy can provide relief during all stages of pregnancy, and promote relaxation and a sense of well-being. Treatment is similar to that of a non-pregnant person, with some modifications for comfort and health.
Some reasons you might come in for a massage are:
- Muscle tension and soreness
- Joint pain (including pelvic/SI joints, back, hip, and neck pain)
- Sciatica, carpal tunnel, and other nerve issues during pregnancy
- Rib pain
- Sore and tired feet
- Swollen ankles, feet, and wrists
- Headaches
- Difficulty sleeping
- Relaxation and preparing your body for birth
Pregnancy massage is a focus in my practice, and I am passionate about helping people during this significant stage of life. My experience ranges from in-clinic treatments for healthy pregnancies, to hospital-based massage therapy for high-risk pregnancies.
My treatments offer space to unwind and release tension, and recommendations for self care so you can continue your wellness at home. Like you, I want your pregnancy to be a healthy and enjoyable one!
